In this video, we turn away from the Southern view of last week to take a look North. Although we are still looking at the September, the Northern Sky remains quite constant throughout the year, so we will have plenty of chances to look closer.
Some of the most famous things in the sky, such as the North Star and that famous group of stars known as The Plough or Big Dipper (among other names) are visible when you face northward on a clear night. We will look at how to find the North Star as well as the difference between an asterism and a constellation, using the example of the asterism The Plough, and the constellation is is part of Ursa Major, the Great Bear.
We will also show the constellation Cassiopeia and how you can use it to find the Andromeda Galaxy when facing north, but no close up this time, we did that last video!
Finally, I will tell you, reading this hear, that our bonus planet is: Mercury!
The smallest planet, closest to the Sun with the shortest year, is making an appearance now as we push through the month, it will be in a fantastic position to observe around the Morning of the 22nd.
If you would like to know why, then you’ll need to watch the video above.
